In case there was any question, yes—I am here to be a disruptor.
Venturing into sexology has changed my life. It reshaped the way I understand myself, the way I define sex, how I relate to my own sexuality. It changed how I show up in my relationships and how I move through the world. And now, I get the privilege of supporting others on their unique journeys.
Let’s face it, most of us received little to no meaningful sex education. If we did, it was often fear-based, abstinence-only, focused on reproduction, drenched in shame, or scared the shit out of us. And to be honest, most people continue to rely on this education, unless they actively choose to seek out new information.
A comprehensive sex education looks very different. It centers consent, safety, boundaries, communication, and pleasure. It welcomes the fluidity of gender, sex, and sexuality, creating space for everyone to be seen and celebrated.
It teaches us to unlearn shame and replace it with self-compassion, self-awareness, and radical self-love. When we learn to respect ourselves, we start to respect others. We create space for healing, for freedom, for connection.
Sex education teaches us to listen with curiosity, not judgment. It gives people the language to tell their stories. And when people tell their stories, we cultivate empathy, connection, and greater self-awareness and understanding of others.
Everyone deserves to live a life rooted in expansive joy and pleasure. Everyone deserves to be celebrated and to feel free in their full, authentic expression.
Can we allow ourselves to open up enough to have the courage to see ourselves in others who challenge us to be free?
That is the question. Will you allow yourself to open to more joy, more love, more expansion, greater self-awareness? This is power. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating for pacificism or turning the other cheek. This is erotic power, power that is radically healing and hungry for justice. It is active. It mobilizes. It organizes. It dismantles and transforms systems.
As Audre Lorde taught us, the erotic is an inherently political force, capable of driving revolutionary change when properly understood and embraced. We can’t wait for our power to be “granted” to us or to be given permission to step into it. Embracing the erotic doesn’t require an invitation.
Erotic liberation is ultimately a return to the body, to our body, and it is from here we can take root in our power of unbridled, transformative, and alchemical energy and reject the systems of oppression and push back against a society’s corrupt justifications for violence and exploitation of our bodies.
This is where we demand space for life, for joy, for pleasure and move forward with knowledge, imagination, and fuel for collective action and personal healing.
